In North Las Vegas / the surrounding area, the service industry is the largest employer, which includes hotels, gaming and recreation. One of the largest employers in the area is MGM Grand, followed by the Clark County School District. The hotel-casino, Bellagio is in third place, as it employs in the region of 10,200 people. Casino hotels account for eight of the city's top 10 employers and 18 of the city's top 21 employers. Other major industries in Las Vegas (all of which are associated with entertainment) include the retail industry, restaurants and construction. Downtown Las Vegas is home to about a dozen large office and government buildings (along with an equal amount of hotels) but even these are dwarfed by the much larger casinos and hotels of the Strip. |
